eris johnson

Eris (they/them) is a politicized somatic practitioner, community herbalist and popular educator committed to eco-social collective liberation. Eris’ belief in this work is rooted in their own experience of being held and reshaped by somatic practice, herbal allies, relentlessly creative community networks and ecological landscapes of unyielding care.

Eris has completed somatics trainings with generative somatics, wildbody somatics, The Strozzi Institute, The Embody Lab, and The Embodiment Institute. Their work is shaped by the direct mentorship with Lauren Miller, Phillippe Citrine and Eliana Rubin.

They have completed herbalism certifications with Terra Sylva School of Botanical Medicine and Wintergreen Botanicals. They have pursued continuing education through Wild Current Herbs and the Vermont School of Integrative Herbalism. They are rooted in the tradition of Radical Vitalism. Their work is shaped by the direct mentorship of Janet Kent.

Finally, their work as a popular educator is most influenced by the 2012-2014 facilitators of Students Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity (SEED) at UW-Madison, The Center for Participatory Change, and the Highlander Center. They have also been shaped by the direct mentorship of hundreds of youth over the last two decades. Who better than young folks to cement the belief that we are all simultaneously students and teachers? Endless gratitude for their mentorship.
